The Mystery of the Missing Portrait

My story "The Mystery of the Missing Portrait" is fiction. However, portrait PS166 is based on characters I knew, giving them fictitious names.
The Dutch "title" JONKHEER (like baron) I framed as the family name (Jonkheer van Heurn). Cees' son Anton I met briefly before his demise in NYC. His wife Elsje returned to Holland and from her I learned much about the "Smit/Pitcairn Family Dynamics".
Wallflowers and Forget-me-nots in a Ceramic Vase: PS363, Philippe gave to his stepdaughter, my mother-in-law, who in turn gave it to me as a peace offering in 1965. This painting intrigued me: two flowers uniting - could it be a secret whisper? This fanciful idea gave me the inspiration to tell what could have happened to painting PS166, the "missing portrait", that according to the review was considered the JEWEL of the Smit Exhibition.
